Later that year, on December 28, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. formalized the nationwide shutdown by signing Executive Order No. 9, effectively banning all remote betting and live streaming of cockfights outside official cockpit premises.

Accountability took time, but the legal system continued its pursuit. In December 2022, the Department of Justice indicted three police officers for the robbery and abduction of an agent in Laguna. By September 15, 2023, the PNP-CIDG arrested six suspects directly connected to the Manila Arena abductions.
